How articles are selected for inclusion on the web site
To preserve the chances that researchers investigating connectionist
and neural network models of disorder will find what they are looking for,
with a minimum of unwanted references, the following inclusion and exclusion
criteria have been adopted.
What's here:
Any article I hear about that presents a causal model
of mechanisms underlying, or associated with, a cognitive, affective, brain,
or behavioral disorder that uses a connectionist or neural network framework
is included. No editorial decisions are made to exclude articles
based on quality or orientation. I periodically check current publication databases (current contents, psychinfo, medline), receive notices from authors, and monitor the connectionist mailing list for relevant publications.
What's not here:
Articles that use neural networks as analytical tools, rather
than causal models (e.g., detecting clusters of symptoms from empirical
data) are not included.
Articles that broadly describe connections between brain
areas ("this part's connected to that part") and say "it's a neural network"
are only included if they make explicit references to principles
of connectionism or neural networks.
